About Manfred
Salvadoran-American tenor, Manfred Anaya, is making a name for himself performing a diverse set of repertoire. Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Manfred is emerging as a young artist to watch.
Manfred spent the 2022 summer with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, making his company debut in two world premieres. He was seen as Rose's Fiancé in Awakenings and covered Scott Smith in Harvey Milk. In the 2022-23 season, he returns to CCM to pursue his Artist Diploma, and he performs the role of Chevalier de la Force in their production of Dialogues of the Carmelites, earning praise for his "wonderful lyric tenor." Continuing to perform in the midst of his studies, he also debuts with Pacific Opera Project, singing Telamone in the US premiere of Vivaldi's Ercole su'l Termodonte.

In the 2021-22 season, Manfred sang Gastone for Dayton Opera’s La Traviata, and covered the role of Tchaplitsky in The Queen of Spades with Des Moines Metro Opera. After singing the Salvadoran National Anthem for a friendly game between the national teams of El Salvador and Costa Rica, Manfred returned to Des Moines Metro Opera for the company’s 50th anniversary performance of Barrie Kosky's production of The Magic Flute, covering the roles of Tamino and First Armored Man.

Other notable roles elsewhere include Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni, Fenton in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Dr. Caius in Falstaff, and Scaramuccio in Ariadne auf Naxos. He holds a BM in Music from California State University — Northridge, and MM from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He is currently in the midst of completing his Artist Diploma in Opera at CCM.
